Charles Robert Gorman, 28, was ordered held on $850,000 bail after charges were filed, police said Thursday.
At least three vehicles were involved in the crash in the westbound lanes of the bypass east of the Reeceville Road exit shortly before 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The crash caused one of the vehicles to go off the roadway and down an embankment. Two other vehicles came to a rest against the guardrail.
Richard Brad Erickson died as a result of his injuries, Pennsylvania State Police said while not revealing which vehicle his was in.
Two others were hurt, officials said. The conditions of the two survivors weren't revealed.
After the wreck, state police tracked down Gorman, who allegedly fled the crash scene. The Route 30 bypass westbound was closed for more than two hours as troopers investigated.
