Reading Terminal Market Unveils New Renovations

Mayor Nutter cuts ribbon to kick off a week of events to celebrate the completion of its renovation

Reading Terminal Market hosted a special ceremony today to unveil the completion of its $3.6 million renovation project.

Mayor Michael Nutter and other dignitaries joined in the official ribbon-cutting for the opening of the Rich Nichols Room and the Reading Market Terminal History Exhibit.

The new multi-purpose rental space, the Rick Nichols Room, and the demonstration kitchen, La Cucina at the Market, will serve as the sites for Dedication Week, which is a weeklong series of events that highlights merchants, chefs, authors and leaders of the Philadelphia regional food system.

The children of the Chinatown Learning Center gave a special performance to kick off the special events. The festivities will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. from June 18 to June 23.

Reading Terminal Market is one of the oldest and largest public markets in the country. It is one of Philadelphia's famous landmarks.
