Principal of Local Catholic School Steps Down

The principal of a local Catholic school stepped down on Monday, leaving some parents confused as to why.

Archdiocese officials sent a letter to parents announcing that Marie Rogai, principal of Cardinal Oโ€™Hara High School, would โ€œno longer be servingโ€ at the school.

โ€œThis personnel decision was made with the best interest of the school and its mission in mind,โ€ wrote Dr. Carol Cary, Superintendent for Secondary Schools. โ€œWe are grateful to Ms. Rogai for her service to Catholic education but have decided that a change in leadership is necessary at this time.โ€

An NBC10 viewer claimed Rogai was fired โ€œwithout explanation.โ€ A spokesperson with the archdiocese told NBC10 the firing was strictly a personnel decision and was not related to any other factors.

In her letter to parents, Cary claimed that she and other school leaders would conduct a search for a new principal. In the meantime, assistant principals at the school along with Associate Superintendent Pete Balzano will manage the day to day operations.

Cardinal Oโ€™Hara is a Catholic, co-educational High School located in Springfield, Delaware County.
