The principal of a local Catholic school stepped down on Monday, leaving some parents confused as to why.
Archdiocese officials sent a letter to parents announcing that Marie Rogai, principal of Cardinal O’Hara High School, would “no longer be serving” at the school.
“This personnel decision was made with the best interest of the school and its mission in mind,” wrote Dr. Carol Cary, Superintendent for Secondary Schools. “We are grateful to Ms. Rogai for her service to Catholic education but have decided that a change in leadership is necessary at this time.”
An NBC10 viewer claimed Rogai was fired “without explanation.” A spokesperson with the archdiocese told NBC10 the firing was strictly a personnel decision and was not related to any other factors.
In her letter to parents, Cary claimed that she and other school leaders would conduct a search for a new principal. In the meantime, assistant principals at the school along with Associate Superintendent Pete Balzano will manage the day to day operations.
Cardinal O’Hara is a Catholic, co-educational High School located in Springfield, Delaware County.
