Pittsburgh police have been searching for a man who briefly stole a car left running outside a convenience store.
Police say the toddler's father went inside the Hanini Market and Subs shop about 8 p.m. Sunday to buy a soda and some candy for the boy, who was strapped into a car seat.
The man immediately called police after he saw the suspect jump into the car and drive away as he exited the store.
Police Cmdr. Lavonnie Bickerstaff says officers found the car about a half-mile away with the child still safely inside about 15 minutes later.
The child wasn't hurt.
Police were still searching for the suspect early Monday.
