Pennsylvania Boy, 8, Who Joined Police While Battling Cancer Dies

A western Pennsylvania boy who realized his dream of being a police officer for a day while battling an inoperable brain tumor has died.

Eight-year-old Joey Fabus' family says he died Wednesday at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

The Bethel Park Police Department made Joey an honorary officer last June, two months after his diagnosis.

Joey went on patrol with another officer and even wrote out a citation. He also threw out the first pitch at a Pirates game.

Bethel Park Chief David Rogan say Joey will be buried Monday in full uniform. He says officers from across the region will attend Joey's funeral.

Rogan says Joey touched a lot of people. He says the boy was his friend for life and partner for a day.
