A day after completing its $40.5 billion purchase of Allergan’s generic pharmaceuticals business, Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. has entered into a definitive agreement to purchase Anda Inc., a subsidiary of Allergan, for $500 million.
Anda is the fourth largest distributor of generic pharmaceuticals in the U.S.
The Weston, Florida, company distributes generic, brand, specialty and over-the-counter pharmaceutical products from more than 300 manufacturers to retail independent and chain pharmacies, nursing homes, mail order pharmacies, hospitals, clinics and physician offices.
As part of the deal, Teva will acquire distribution centers in Weston; Olive Branch, Mississippi; and Groveport, Ohio; which combined have a total of more than 650 employees.
