Thursday is day 43 of the Occupy Philadelphia movement. It’s also one of the busiest days in the movement so far.
On Wednesday, protesters were served with an eviction notice asking that they leave Dilworth Plaza “immediately“ to make room for a $50 million construction project.
“We need that space to be able to do what we need to do,” said Mayor Micheal Nutter.
Some protesters have already left the plaza, many stuck around. And now city officials and local residents are left wondering, will the movement vacate the Plaza?
“We can talk to them about some other space to do what they want to do,” Nutter says.
Protesters want something a little more concrete than the mayor’s words.
A group of protesters attended a city council meeting on Thursday morning, raising their concerns and demanding, among other things, a written statement from the city saying they can occupy another city space.
The group was escorted out of the meeting after shouting erupted.
Now, rumors are swirling of an impending traffic jam – caused by the people of the movement.
Occupy Philadelphia, locals that are unemployed and residents plans to march -- toting "need work" and "willing to work" signs -- from Dilworth Plaza down Market Street to the Market Street Bridge around 4 p.m.
It’s then, that protesters plan on stopping traffic, according to sources.
Police say that they, too, have heard the rumors and have a plan in case the rumors turn out to be reality.
