Norristown Zoo Welcomes New Baby Porcupines

Guests can now visit two cute, but not so cuddly creatures that just arrived at the Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown.

Two mother porcupines, Ivanna and Lola, gave birth last week to the porcupettes at the zoo. Both babies weighed just over one pound upon birth and are growing daily. You can see them inside their exhibit.

The zoo is holding a contest to find the best names for the porcupines. Zoo staff will choose names for the cute critters based off fan suggestions left in the comments of the Facebook announcement, or emailed suggestions.

The Elmwood Park Zoo in Norristown is home to dozens of wild and endangered species. The zoo's mission, as stated on their website, is to foster an appreciation for wildlife and the environment that will inspire active participation in conservation.
