Insurance Companies to Pay Out Almost $2.4M to Family of New Jersey Trooper Struck by Passing Car

Family of Trooper Sean Cullen settles lawsuits

The family of a New Jersey state trooper who was struck and killed by a passing motorist will receive almost $2.4 million to settle lawsuits over his death.

Sean Cullen was struck in March 2016 when he responded to a crash and car fire on Interstate 295 in Deptford Township.

Authorities say the 31-year-old trooper was trying to cross the southbound lanes of the highway on foot to reach the burning vehicle when he was struck by a passing car. He died the next day at a hospital.

The settlement will be paid by insurance companies of the drivers involved in the crash.

Cullen lived in Cinnaminson. His survivors include his fiancee and two young sons.
