NJ Mom Ties Up, Beats Daughter: Cops

Authorities say a New Jersey girl begged detectives to take her away from her mother whom she said tied her up and beat her.

Trenton police charged 33-year-old Plesie Nichols and her 28-year-old live-in boyfriend Anthony Roberson with aggravated assault and child endangerment.

The couple was also charged with possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. That was the rope and shoelaces that prosecutors say was used to tie the girl to a banister and doorknobs.

The mother and boyfriend are each held on $150,000 bail. It's not clear whether they've retained lawyers.

Mercer County Sheriff's Officer William Osterman told The Times of Trenton the children lived with rotting food and rodent feces.

Authorities say the girl was taken to a hospital for treatment of sores caused from being tied up.
