Guard, Stepdad Accused of Smuggling Contraband into New Jersey Prison

Authorities are accusing a New Jersey prison guard of smuggling contraband and his stepfather of helping him launder the proceeds.

The guard, 31-year-old Nickoy Ellis of Lake Hiawatha, and his stepfather, 51-year-old Kingsley Ellis of Union, are scheduled to make their first appearance in court on Friday.

Hunterdon County prosecutors allege Nickoy Ellis smuggled and distributed contraband, including synthetic marijuana, to inmates at the Mountainview Youth Correctional Facility in Clinton Township.

He's charged with official misconduct, bribery, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and money laundering.

His stepfather is charged with complicity to money laundering.

It's not known if the men have lawyers.
