Children Rushed to Hospital Following Delaware School Bus Accident

Several children were rushed to a Delaware Hospital following a school bus crash in the parking lot of a middle school in New Castle County Tuesday morning.

Eleven of the 24 students from Shue-Medill Middle School were taken to Alfred I. duPont Hospital after their school bus crashed into a pole just around 7:10 a.m. in the school's parking lot, according to the Christina School District's Facebook page.

All of the children were taken to duPont with minor injuries, said police.

The bus driver, Arlene Holden, also suffered minor injuries, said Delaware State Police.

Investigators said that an initial investigation showed that Holden was driving through the school parking lot when she was cut off a white SUV, according to police. The 60-year-old driver swerved to avoid the SUV — slamming into a light police.

The SUV drove off in an unknown direction, said police.
