New Jersey MRI Owners Admit to Paying Kickback to Doctor for Referrals

Two men who owned MRI facilities in New Jersey have admitted paying more than $30,000 to a doctor for patient referrals.

Sixty-seven-year-old Norman Brettler of Cherry Hill and 62-year-old Lee Getson of Southampton pleaded guilty in federal court in Camden to conspiracy to pay kickbacks.

Federal prosecutors say between January 2012 and June 2014 the men paid the bribes which resulted in more than $115,000 in Medicare payments to their companies, Ocean Upright MRI in Toms River and Tilton Dynamic Imaging in Northfield.

Each will face up to five years in prison and fines when they are sentenced in June.
