A Norristown man was arrested on Wednesday night after he unintentionally called 9-1-1 and a dispatcher overhead him discussing the sale of drugs with another person, according to The Times Herald.
The Times reports that 19-year-old Rashon Downing accidentally dialed 9-1-1 around 9:40 p.m.
According to police, the female dispatcher that answered the call heard Downing discussing quantity and the price of crack cocaine.
Dispatch stayed on the line long enough to identify where the man was calling from and then contacted police, reports the paper.
Police allegedly set up a meeting with the dealer, who told them to meet him at DeKalb and Elm streets, according to The Times Herald.
Once on the scene, authorities had the dispatcher call the suspect back. She instructed the man to wave his arm so that she could identify him when she pulled up to buy the drugs, reports The Times. Once he waved, police made their move, verifying phone information and recovering drugs off the suspect’s body.
According to the Montgomery County paper, 22 bags of drugs, cash and the cell phone that dialed 9-1-1 were recovered.
