How many good things can happen when a 14 year old gets behind the wheel of a truck? A Delaware teen smashed up four cars after his mother gave him permission to take the truck out on an errand, say New Castle County police.
Last night police showed up on the scene at 100 block of Cross Avenue in Swanwyck where they found the teen behind the wheel of a Dodge Dakota pickup truck and four smacked cars.
Today, Melissa Dawson was arrested for giving her son permission to drive the truck to the store. Police say this may not have been the only time Dawson let him take the vehicle for a spin.
Dawson was arrested, arraigned and released on $500 bail, according to County police. She was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and allowing an unlicensed minor to operate a vehicle.
Her son suffered minor injuries from the crash. He was cited with eight traffic tickets. His case will go to Family Court.
