A 23-year-old Philadelphia man has been held for trial on murder and related offenses in the slaying of a man who was earlier the alleged victim in an assault case against two police officers.
Philly.com reports a witness testified during a preliminary hearing Tuesday that Khalil Henderson was the person who killed 23-year-old Najee Rivera after a street fight in December.
But the witness then said he wasn't sure whether he had ever seen Henderson before. Defense attorney Jonathan Altschuler says the wrong man has been arrested.
Prosecutors earlier accused two police officers of beating Rivera without provocation during a May 2013 traffic stop and then prosecuting him to try to cover up their actions. The officers were acquitted and Rivera's family received a $200,000 settlement from the city.
