Man Hit by Trolley at 69th St. Terminal

The victim was pinned underneath the trolley for nearly an hour.

Trolley service for the Route 101 and Route 102 trolleys were suspended Thursday morning after a trolley struck a pedestrian at the 69th Street Terminal., according to SEPTA representative Jerri Williams.

The accident happened around 8 a.m. on West Chester Pike at Terminal Square. Authorites say the man missed his trolley and was running down the track when he was struck.

Emergency crews used air bags to lift the trolley off the unidentified man after he became pinned beneath.

The victim was trapped under the trolley for almost an hour before he was freed and transported to the hospital with leg injuries.

Shuttle buses helped get passengers where they needed to be. Service was restored around 9:45 a.m.
