Delaware State Police say they are investigating after a man apparently shot himself immediately following a police chase.
Police say they spotted a maroon Chevy Impala that matched the description of a car used in a recent bank robbery at around 6:30 p.m. on Friday in Bridgeville and began following it.
When the car failed to stop troopers deployed a tire deflation device to halt the car, officials said. As the car came to a controlled stop between Oak and Sanfilippo roads they say they heard a gunshot.
When they approached the car they discovered the 35-year-old passenger dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The driver, a 31-year-old woman, was not hurt, police said.
The death is being investigated as a suicide.
