Judge Expected to Hear Closing Arguments in Frying Pan Murder Trial

A Monmouth County jury is expected to hear closing arguments this week in the trial of a Middletown man charged with murdering his wife with a frying pan.

Patrick Allen is charged with killing Kimberly Allen in November 2011. The 47-year-old former securities salesman has been on trial since September.

Prosecutors contend Patrick Allen was trying to hide the family's financial difficulties from his wife, including the fact that they were about to lose their home to foreclosure.

They say an argument ensued when Kimberly Allen learned of the situation, and that Patrick Allen struck her with the frying pan and then strangled her.

Allen's attorney claims his client was about to come into some money that would have held off the foreclosure, contradicting the prosecution's theory of motive.
