The leader of a Jersey Shore heroin ring has been sentenced in the death of a woman who died from a negative reaction to the drug.
Ocean County prosecutors say 43-year-old Rufus Young received a 10-year sentence Friday for supplying the heroin that ultimately made its way to 23-year-old Jamie Caravella. She was found unresponsive in a Toms River home in February 2013.
Young's state prison term will run concurrently with a 15-year federal prison term he received last month for several charges related to the drug ring.
Another man charged in Caravella's death was also sentenced Friday.
Prosecutors say Paul Robinson received a five-year state prison term. The 26-year-old Toms River man had pleaded guilty to manslaughter.
