Ex-Girlfriend Killer Ira Einhorn Moves to Minimum-Security Prison

A man convicted of killing of his ex-girlfriend and hiding her body in a locked closet for years has been moved from the medium-security prison he's been held at since his 2002 conviction to a minimum-security prison.

Pennsylvania Department of Corrections spokeswoman Susan McNaughton tells Philly.com that 75-year-old Ira Einhorn was moved earlier this week from State Correctional Institution Houtzdale to SCI Laurel Highlands in Somerset County.

McNaughton declined to comment on why he was moved. She says prison officials plan to eventually return Einhorn to the Houtzdale institution.

Einhorn was convicted in the 1997 killing of Holly Maddux in Philadelphia. He fled the country and spent nearly two decades hiding in Europe before being returned to the United States. [[104932224, C]]

Einhorn's attorney didn't immediately return a request for comment.
