Fake Police Officer Talks Prostitute Into Discounted Sex: Authorities

Law enforcement officials say a suspended New Jersey corrections officer has admitted he posed as a police officer to coerce prostitutes into having sex with him for free or at a reduced price.

The attorney general's office says Juan R. Stevens pleaded guilty Thursday to a charge of official misconduct.

The 51-year-old Burlington Township resident must give up his state job and could face up to five years in prison at his Jan. 3 sentencing.

Prosecutors say between May 2011 and July 2012, Stevens called prostitutes and agreed to meet them for sex. But when it came time to pay, he allegedly told them he was a police officer and threatened to arrest them unless they waved their fees.

Stevens worked at the Central Reception and Assignment Facility in Trenton.
