Eastbound Route 22 Reopens After Crashes In Western Pennsylvania

A several mile stretch of U.S. Route 22 in western Pennsylvania was closed after multi-vehicle accidents - including two overturned tractor trailers.

PennDOT spokeswoman Tara Callahan-Henry says the eastbound lanes reopened by 8:30 a.m. Monday, but that the westbound lanes - from the Mundy's Corner exit in Cambria County west to the Indiana County line - remained closed.

State police were investigating, but didn't immediately release information on how many vehicles were involved or whether any serious injuries were reported.

Callahan-Henry says there were reports of fog in the area, but she didn't know whether that contributed to the accidents.

The crashes were being handled by emergency crews from Jackson Township, Cambria County.
