Underground Fire Causes Outages in East Falls

Power was restored for some of the customers in the East Falls section of the city as well as Manayunk after an underground fire.

Firefighters responded to reports of an underground transformer fire on the 3700 block of Main Street around 7:45 p.m. Saturday.

PECO officials told NBC10 around 2000 customers were without power. Several businesses in the area, including Johnny Manana's Restaurant on the 4200 block of Ridge Avenue, were also in the dark. The power was restored to about 1000 customers around 10:30 p.m. Officials continue to work on restoring power for the remaining customers.

No one was injured or evacuated in connection to the incident. Officials continue to investigate the cause of the fire.
