Police in Delaware say a man armed with knives chased people around a store while he was allegedly under the influence of synthetic marijuana.

In a Tuesday news release, Dover police said 41-year-old Steve Lawrence entered the Royal Farms at 293 Saulsbury Road around 7 p.m. Friday carrying two folding knives. Master Cpl. Mark Hoffman said employees called police to report Lawrence was chasing workers and customers around the business.

Lawrence is accused of running from officers when they arrived. He was captured after a short foot chase, police said. No injuries were reported.

A person with Lawrence indicated that synthetic marijuana was involved, police said. Officers didn't recover any drugs.

Lawrence is facing several charges including disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and menacing. He's been booked into the Sussex Correctional Institution. It's unclear whether he had an attorney who could comment.
