A gunman who fatally shot two brothers and wounded another worker during a gas station robbery has been sentenced to 50 years in prison.
Taheem Singletary was sentenced Friday. The 22-year-old Paterson man had pleaded guilty to two counts of felony murder stemming from the Halloween night robbery in 2013.
Authorities say Singletary and two other men had gone on a robbery spree that culminated with the gas station robbery.
Singletary shot one employee after he saw him reaching for what he thought was an alarm. He then fled the store but returned when he realized one of his accomplices had been tackled by another station employee.
Singletary then shot two more employees before fleeing on foot.
Authorities say 27-year-old Abdul Nasir Hussain and his 24-year-old brother, Abdul Waqas Hussain, died from their wounds. The third employee survived.
