Firefighters Come to the Rescue After Crane Breaks

Firefighters in North Jersey rescued an Iowa man when his bucket crane buckled.

Josh Lovell of Melcher, Iowa, was working on lights at Hillman Field in Emerson, New Jersey, when the crane broke Tuesday.

"The next thing I know, I lose everything. No controls," Lovell told The Record newspaper. "I just hung on for dear life. It started off slow and then it got real quick."

Emerson Police Chief Donald Rossi tells The Record the crane's hydraulic line snapped, causing the bucket to drop about 40 feet. The crane was bent at a 90-degree angle.
