A man has been sentenced to life in prison in the shooting death of his longtime girlfriend at their Philadelphia-area home last year.
The Daily Local News of West Chester reports that 45-year-old Gregory Twyman of Coatesville pleaded guilty last week to first-degree murder and a firearms count in the May 2013 death of 37-year-old Jamica Woods.
Police said the two had been fighting for days, and that morning she was trying to compel him to leave the house.
Twyman declined to say anything before he was sentenced to the mandatory life term along with a consecutive 10-year term on the firearms count.
The couple's 19-year-old daughter, Janaija Twyman, told the court that her father "made a mistake ... but I understand and I forgive him."
