20-Year-Old Faces Charges in Deadly Crash

Charges against a 20-year-old northern New Jersey man have been upgraded to include death by auto.

Secaucus police tell The Jersey Journal that 58-year-old Angel Rivera, of Brooklyn, was struck around 3:30 a.m. Saturday on County Road, shortly after he had completed his work day at a nearby parcel delivery firm.

The driver of the car, 20-year-old Bryant Almanzar, of Secaucus, was first charged with drunken driving. Sgt. Martin Moreda says charges were later upgraded to include death by auto and resisting arrest.

Almanzar was taken to Hudson County Jail and it wasn't immediately clear if he had an attorney.

No other injuries were reported in the accident.
