Car Wash Killer Sentenced to Death

It took a jury less than two hours to reach the unanimous decision to sentence a convicted killer to death.

The jury of nine women and three men sentenced 31-year-old Omar Sharif Cash to die by lethal injection for the 2008 killing of Muliek Brown outside a car wash in the Frankford section of Philadelphia, according to prosecutors.

Earlier this month, it took the jury just 35 minutes to return a guilty verdict in the execution-style slaying.

Cash claimed he shot Brown in the back of the head in self defense as Brown polished the wheel rims of his car.

"This was a horrible and senseless crime," said District Attorney Seth Williams. "Mr. Brown was hardworking father whose death is a loss for the entire city of Philadelphia.

"His death penalty verdict holds Omar Cash accountable for his unthinkable actions. My thoughts and prayers are with Muliek Brownโ€™s family and friends, and I hope this will give them some sense of justice."

Cash is already serving a life-without-parole sentence in Bucks County for murdering a man he carjacked and repeatedly raping the man's girlfriend.

The jury wasn't told about that case during the trial.
