Boat Goes Airborne, Injures 3 in Cape May County

Three people were hurt after their boat went airborne Saturday night in Cape May County.

Local rescue crews, firefighters and New Jersey State Police responded the crash site at Lester McNamara Wildlife Management Area.

The boat was moving at a high speed along the Tuckahoe River near Middletown Road in Upper Township around 8 p.m. when it left the water and landed on a bulkhead near a boat ramp, according to the Upper Township Rescue Squad.

A man and two women were on board when the accident occurred.

The man and one of the women were airlifted to the trauma center at AtlanticCare Medical Center in Atlantic City, while the third occupant was transported to Shore Medical Center in Somers Point for precautionary measures, according to New Jersey State Police.

Authorities have not released a cause for the crash and an investigation is underway.
