The New Jersey Supreme Court will revisit the issue of affordable housing.
The court on Jan. 6 will hear arguments by affordable housing advocates who want courts to enforce the law intended to ensure homes will be within the financial reach of low- and moderate-income residents.
The Fair Share Housing Center has said Gov. Chris Christie's administration has not done the job.
The state Supreme Court earlier this year gave the state Council on Affordable Housing until November to adopt and publish rules governing how many affordable homes each town is responsible for providing.
The council refused to adopt the Christie's administration rules, citing several problems.
Fair Share says the plan is flawed and wants judges to decide.
The state League of Municipalities has suggested lawmakers change the law.
