Woman Injured in Del. Hit-And-Run

Newark woman sideswiped by Jeep while working on car

A Newark, Del. woman was hospitalized with serious injuries after she was sideswiped by a car while working on her vehicle early Saturday morning.

According to Delaware State Police, Evelyn Vilchez, 24, was transported to Christiana Medical Center with serious injuries after the hit-and-run, which occurred on Old Baltimore Pike at around 1:15 a.m.

Investigators say that Vilchez was working on her car at the side of the road with her boyfriend, 25-year-old Emmanuel Gonzalez, when she was struck by a silver Jeep that was traveling eastbound.

Investigators say that the Jeep should be damaged on its right side, as debris was found at the scene of the hit-and-run.
