Woman Convicted of Killing Boyfriend to Be Sentenced

A northwestern Pennsylvania woman faces sentencing Wednesday in the shooting death of her boyfriend last summer.

Twenty-nine-year-old Kristina Mae Allen was convicted in Erie County in April of third-degree murder, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and a weapons count in the August death of 27-year-old Dean Haggerty.

Prosecutors said the shooting followed an argument in the couple's mobile home in Summit Township over his accusation that she was cheating on him. They also said she told conflicting stories to police.
 
Defense attorney Eric Mikovch said the shooting was accidental, arguing that Haggerty pulled out the weapon and his client was trying to protect him.
