Triple Shooting in Pleasantville

Three people were injured after someone pulled out a gun and fired it during an argument at a neighborhood barbecue where more than 100 people were present.

The shooting at the Pleasantville, N.J., gathering took place around 12:30 a.m. on Sunday on the 300 block of Chestnut Street. Investigators say Gregory James, Sr. was hosting a gathering at his home when an unknown man opened fire on another man who just left the function.

Lamar Harris, 21, was confronted by the suspect who pulled out a handgun. When Harris ran back to the home toward the guests, the suspect shot him in the right thigh.

The suspect also shot James in the right side of his lower back and then Janice Hamlett, 28, four times - in her left bicep, left arm pit, right chest and right calf.

All three were taken to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for treatment for their injuries and are listed in critical condition.

James is a firefighter in the county, according to police sources.

There is no description of the suspect and no motive in the case.
