Good news if you're looking for a quick getaway because through the month of October, tolls are free on two major roadways.
Tolls will be waived from noon to midnight each Tuesday in October, in the eastbound lanes of the expressway's Egg Harbor and Pleasantville plazas. Motorisits will be saving $3.75 in fares.
Alliance spokesman Jeff Guaracino tells The Press of Atlantic City toll-free trips are one way of showcasing Atlantic City for great values during midweek getaways.
The alliance is a marketing coalition funded by Atlantic City's casinos.
Guaracino says that the toll-free trips will not drive more business to Atlantic City, but will rather serve as a "psychological and marketing tool" that reflects the tourist-friendly values.
This is an effort from The Atlantic City Alliance trying to reposition itself from just a gambling destination to a diversified tourist destination.
The city's gambling market continues to struggle with the closings of four casinos this year.
