Man Shot in Face During Attempted Robbery

Police say the suspect made off with nothing after trying to rob a man in the Kingsessing section of the city

A man was in critical condition Friday night after being shot once in the face during an attempted robbery in the Kingsessing section of Southwest Philadelphia.

Philadelphia Police say a man in his 20s shot the unidentified 21-year-old victim once in the jaw at 51st and Willows Streets around 9:45.

He was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he remained was in critical condition as of 10:20.

Police described the suspect as a thin, light-skinned black male with a thin beard. He was wearing a black hat, red and black jacket and dark pants when he fled on foot down 51st Street towards Pentridge Avenue.

He took nothing from the victim, police said.
