Son Found Dead by Investigators Looking Into Mother's Murder



    A man's body is found inside a Pine Street apartment. NBC10's Monique Braxton reports police found the man dead of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound when they went to the home to question him in the death of his mother. (Published Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013)

    A Philadelphia man who was about to be questioned in his mother's death was found shot to death inside his Center City apartment on Thursday. Police say he killed himself.

    The fugitive squad was escorting detectives from Ocala, Florida to the man's home at 1819 Pine Street. They they found his body inside the home with a gun nearby.

    Florida police say he was a person of interest in his mother's death. The 64-year-old widow was shot to death inside her Ocala home on December 30. Her body was found by neighbors who noticed that the victim had not come out to get her newspaper in several days and her garage door had been open for three days straight.

    According to Florida newspaper reports, the victim's husband died in September of 2011 after falling 40-feet from a cliff in Mount Rainier National park near Seattle.

    Philadelphia police plan to release the son's name after they notify his relatives.
