    College Student Accused of Stabbing Realtor to Death Released on Bail

    A college student accused of stabbing a real estate developer to death in Rittenhouse Square is out of jail after his bail was posted last week. Supporters of the student claim he was acting in self-defense during a confrontation with the realtor.

    The 21-year-old college student accused of killing a Philadelphia real estate developer near Rittenhouse Square is home with his parents after posting bail last week.

    A spokesperson for Michael White’s family told NBC10 the 21-year-old was released from jail Monday.

    Two bail advocacy groups posted bail Thursday. The Philadelphia Community Bail Fund (PCBF) and The Philadelphia Bail Fund (PBF) teamed up to pay the $15,000 (10 percent of $150,000) needed to bail out Michael White as he awaits trial on 3rd-degree murder charges in the July 12 stabbing death of Sean Schellenger.

    His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 30, according to court records.
