Police Seek Person of Interest in Deadly Throat Slashing Inside South Philadelphia Bistro

Homicide detectives want to talk to a man in connection to the deadly throat slashing of a restaurant worker in South Philadelphia Thursday night.

Detectives believe the man, who goes by the name Noelle, was last to see Thoung Nguyen before she was found dead just after 9 p.m. Thursday.

The owners of Lee's Cafe & Bistro on the 500 block of Washington Avenue found the 54-year-old cook on the floor of the basement kitchen after a food order took longer than normal to be prepared, police said.

Nguyen had a large knife gash to her throat. She was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

Noelle, a 25-30 year old who was also a cook at the bistro, was preparing food with Nguyen before the stabbing, police said. He couldn't be found after the woman's body was discovered, according to detectives.

The man is known to drive a white SUV. Police are asking anyone with information on Noelle's whereabouts to call the Homicide Unit at 215.686.3334.
