Investigators are crediting a police dog with helping to capture a burglary suspect in New Castle, Delaware.

Police responded this morning at 2:09 a.m. to a home on the 200 block of Gordy Place in the Llangollen Estates community. Police say they received a burglary report stating the sound of glass breaking was heard from the home.

When they arrived, Corporal Steven Donahue and his canine partner Monty spotted a man who matched the suspect description fleeing on foot in the back of the home, according to investigators. Police say Corporal Donahue ordered the suspect, later identified as Andrew Senires, 20, of New Castle, to surrender. Senires allegedly ignored the officer’s commands and jumped over two fences. Police say Canine Monty chased after Senires, jumped over the two fences and apprehended him. Senires suffered a puncture wound on his arm and was taken to Christiana Hospital. He was treated and then released into police custody.
