Nockamixon State Park is No. 1

The Bucks County park was voted "Best in State"

Instead of being ugly or miserable or fat, Pennsylvania has finally been awarded something to be proud of.

Our 117 state park system was awarded the 2009 National Gold Medal Award for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management.

What's that mean?

It means that Pa. is the "Best in the Nation" until the next medal is awarded in 2011.

So, ha!

But what it actually means is that we've got some really beautiful (and well-maintained) parks. It also means that the planning and managing of the park system is top-notch and that new innovations have drawn people to get out and enjoy the outdoors.

And now, Bucks County park, Nockamixon State Park has also been awarded a very prestigious honor, "Best in State," by the Pennsylvania Parks and Forests Foundation.

The 5283-acre park features a 1,450-acre lake perfect for boating and fishing. It also offers a pool for cooling off during the warm summer months, a picnic area and much much more. You can even stay overnight in a real cabin.
