Nabbed “Nipper” Found in Woods

Dog statue was stolen from Moorestown Community House

The third "Moorestown Nipper" stolen in six years was found only hours after it was stolen, lying on its side in the woods behind its home.

The 75-pound statue of a dog resembling RCA Victor's Nipper was stolen from outside of the Moorestown Community House between 10 p.m. Tuesday when the community house locked its doors and 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, officials told NBC Philadelphia.

The statue is one of the “Moorestown Nippers,” a series of dog statues displayed around the New Jersey town.  This particular Nipper is the third of the project to have been stolen since 2005.

This 5-foot-tall “Nipper,” which has famous buildings from Moorestown's history painted on it, was discovered late Thursday afternoon among debris and trees in the land behind the community house.

The two previous Nippers stolen were both found within days.
