Missing College Athlete Suffering From Neurological Issues

Law enforcement and community members are looking for a missing New Jersey man suffering from neurological issues.

Timothy Hamlett, 20, was last seen on Dec. 26 in Teaneck, according to his parents. They say the University of Pennsylvania athlete is functioning at a diminished capacity because of a toxic reaction to supplements he was taking.

Hamlett’s parents and nearly two dozen friends, mostly from Teaneck, gathered outside Coogan's restaurant in Washington Heights Wednesday, near where Timothy's cellphone last gave a signal. His father Archibald Hamlett said he wasn't sure why his son would have been in the area.

"He doesn't have any friends over here, doesn't frequent this area," said Hamlett.

Family and friends went up and down a stretch of Broadway with the help of Port Authority police officers, who also assisted when the search began Tuesday night, distributing flyers showing Timothy's face. An advertising sound truck was also used in the search, broadcasting the message: "Have you seen this young man? His name is Timothy Hamlett."

"We can't imagine a world without him," said his mother Katherine Hamlett. "We love him so much and he knows that."

Teaneck police have said they've located some of Hamlett’s belongings, but didn't elaborate.

Anyone who may have spotted Hamlett is asked to contact their local law enforcement department. A reward will be offered for any information that may lead to his safe return.
