Men Hurt After Bomb Made β€˜for Fun' Explodes

Investigators say two Pennsylvania men hurt when a pipe bomb they were making exploded didn't have malicious intent in making the device.

York police said 23-year-old Daniel Kushla and 22-year-old Jake Ritchie were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries after the explosion around 9 p.m. Tuesday.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives turned over the investigation to local authorities Wednesday after determining the men didn't intend to use the bomb to harm anyone.

York police Chief Wes Kahley said the men were making the explosive device "for fun, but it backfired on them.''
