Logger Killed by Falling Tree

Authorities say a falling tree killed a logger in southwestern Pennsylvania.

The accident happened Wednesday in West Finley Township, Washington County.

According to the Observer-Reporter, the man was busy cutting one tree when the wind apparently blew down another tree on top of him.

Fire Chief Steve Emery says the logger was dead when firefighters arrived about 2:45 p.m. The victim's name has not yet been released.

Emery says the victim's friend cut the fallen tree off the man and attempted to revive him.

He says the friend had to travel nearly a mile to call emergency responders because of poor cellphone service in the area.
