Man in Critical After Shooting in South Philly

A 20-year-old man is in critical condition after he was shot in a South Philadelphia neighborhood Sunday.

Police were called to the 1300 block of Ringgold Street shortly before 5 p.m. for a report of a shooting. The victim was taken to Methodist Hospital by police then transferred to Jefferson University Hospital. There is no word yet on his injuries.

Police say the alleged gunman rode off on a bike and as he was traveling down 24th and Federal Streets he was hit by a car. When police arrived, they say they saw the suspect try to ditch the gun.

The man was taken into custody. The car described as a Volvo left the scene.

Police are investigating the incident.
