Man Sentenced to 45 Years for Gang-Related Shooting

A northern New Jersey man convicted in a deadly gang-related shooting has been sentenced to 45 years in state prison.

Union County prosecutors say 32-year-old Philip Patrick of Plainfield must serve about 40 years of the term imposed Friday before he becomes eligible for parole.

Patrick was found guilty in February of murder and two weapons offenses stemming from the September 2009 shooting of 27-year-old Dwayne Dunn of Plainfield. Dunn was shot found shot multiple times at a Plainfield bar, and later died at a hospital.

Authorities have not disclosed a motive for the shooting, but said it was gang-related.

Prosecutors say Patrick has a lengthy criminal record, including three felony convictions for drug possession and a prior conviction for weapons' possession.
