Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter was joined by more than 1,200 Philadelphia More Beautiful Committee Block Captains to kick off the 2012 cleaning season on Saturday.
The theme of this year's rally is "Takin' It to the Streets." The goal is to encourage all Block Captains and residents to make Philadelphia a cleaner and more beautiful city, one block at a time.
The official 2012 cleaning season will being on Saturday, March 31 with the first Clean Block Event of the year. Block Captains will also participate in the 5th Annual Philly Spring Cleanup on Saturday, April 14.
