It'll cost more than $4 million to repair the leaks in the towar at Independence Hall.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- The price of liberty may be eternal vigilance but a leaky roof could cost the National Park Service about $4 million.

Park officials have set aside $4.3 million to fix the leaking tower of Philadelphia's Independence Hall.

Officials from the park service and the city historical commission met Thursday to discuss options for repairing the tower, which once housed the Liberty Bell.

    No decision was made Thursday.

Park officials say options range from minor repairs to a complete rehabilitation of the tower.

The water leaks have damaged the tower over time, rusting iron bars that run through the wood siding.

Work would begin in 2011 and Independence Hall would remain open to visitors during the repairs.

The current tower was built in 1828. The original tower dated from 1750.
